Students recreate relics to dig into Viking history

Janet Kay, Cotsen Postdoctoral Fellow in the Society of Fellows and Lecturer in the Humanities Council, taught a course entitled “The Vikings: History and Archaeology,” examining Norse culture and society in Scandinavia and abroad and how Viking raids and settlement affected the British Isles and Northern Europe. Students gained insight into the Viking Age through the study of archeology and material culture, and replicated items the Norse would have used in daily life.
