The novel "Pyre" by Perumal Murugan and translated by fellow Aniruddhan Vasudevan (Anthropology) is among the longlisted titles for this year’s International Booker prize.

Aniruddhan Vasudevan translated the novel, originally published in April 2022, from Tamil. Perumal Murugan is one of India’s highest selling and most respected literary writers. Vasudevan's translation was also named best recently translated fiction by the Guardian in October 2022.
